Help Me Choose a Knit?
The New 2006 Knit Alongs listing is up! Many thanks to our hostess, Natalie, at the Keeping Me in Stitches blog. It's great to see Whit's Mrs. B's KAL listed. Here's a button I made to use on your page if you want. It uses Natalie's latest socks as a background.![]() DONE! FINALLY! ![]() Forgive me if you are as tired of seeing these things as I am. It would be a shame -- no, downright disrespectful! -- to leave off the final photo. Besides, who would believe me if I didn't show proof? These buggers fit my hairy-legged husband perfectly, like they were made for him. I hope they fit Dad as well. So ... What is on the ol' needles? Uh.... I need to cast on and whip up Mom's other wristwarmer and I have two KAL dishcloths to finish. I feel like I need something bigger and more exciting in my basket. I am waiting impatiently for the yarn to arrive for Picovoli and for more yarn for Mrs. B's. Until then...wanna help me choose? Thanks! :) Here are the choices: * Typhus #2 in Alpaca -- nice for my Valentine ** More socks...pattern and yarn undetermined -- recipient? *** Sweater with Sensations Dolcetto...pattern undetermined **** Noro felted bag ***** Gloves -- finish one and make 2nd or rip and start over ****** Kate the Cat, who is just a big felted sock ******* Something using KoolAid yarn -- maybe dying more ******** Nothing...just finish the projects at hand. And should there be a prize for reading all the way to here and helping me choose? OF COURSE! Leave your suggestion in the comments. Whoever convinces me on the path to follow will get a prize. (To be revealed as soon as I choose it.) Or there may be a drawing of names, whichever works out fairly. K? Have a lovely Knitty Day! |

post a commentI think you should finish what you have on your needles. I am a strong believer in that! :) I only knit one thing at a time....maybe two but that's it. Anyway, I think that is what you should do.
Definitely the Typhus in Alpaca for your valentine! Having multiple projects to flip back and forth between is the way to go. Lots of time between now and valentines day, and February is the coldest month. What better way to make your valentine feel loved... but with a warm, homemade item.
Well I am torn between three of your choices. Unlike one comenter I like to have more than one think going on it can break monotine.
Socks are always a great you can pick up and put down (I'll even sugguest a pattern.) Join SixSoxKnitalong and try the current "Standing in the Shadow of Love" By Adraine
** More socks...pattern and yarn undetermined -- recipient?
***** Gloves -- finish one and make 2nd or rip and start over might be nice.
******* Something using KoolAid yarn -- maybe dying more
Sounds like fun
Or cast them all on and see which one calls you first. There you go that is the best.

Well I think.....either the Typhus is alpaca or a Noro felted bag you know how much I love Noro!! The cat is pretty cool too!
I vote for the hat. Lots like fun, and would be much appreciated by a valentine (or at least maybe by yours... mine doesn't like wearing hats). But it looks like fun to try and not so difficult as to leave you unable to finish your other projects. Best wishes in the new year! - Helen
Finish the gloves. I have never finished any and would like to hear how much time they took you.
Well there's no question!! Socks win hands, err foot down!!
As every good knitter knows there must always be a pair of socks in the works!!
Course a Noro, felted bag is good~~a gal can never have enough bags!!
hmmm...I am pretty sure you are sick of socks, (by the way those came out nicely!)
I would say sweater but since you are doing the Sexy Knitter's KAL you might not want another garment project.
Maybe the felted bag since you are in the KAL, hee hee.
But what I REALLY think you should start on are some baby clothes for the fugatars. Try as I might.... you have 9 months - make it fugly or the 'tarbaby' won't wear it.hee hee...
This has been really helpful! It's fun seeing the different approaches to knitting choices, too. I will be posting soon with my decision.
Thanks, too, for the nudges to finish up current projects. That is working out real well, too!
Do the Kitty ... do the kitty!! I think he is darn cute and I want to do that one too! Something a little different! :)
Ang
Kate the cat! Start a KAL!
I vote for the sweater - the button you did is great, I'll add it today if I get time!!
Here is my reasoning for the sweater (because I love prizes):
1) Sweaters comfort the world.
2) While knitting said sweater you will still take breaks for small projects - thus actually accomplishing MORE than just starting with a small project.
3) You called the Tychus Typhus which sounds like a disease and is a Freudian sign that you don't really want to make it.
4) You can make socks, gloves, & Kate all while working on your sweater (and even the Tychus if you want). And, any of those can be kool-aid dyed.
5) If you make a sweater we will get to vote (yet again) on which pattern for you to use which means MORE PRIZES!!!!
Felted bag! Felted bag!
Because felting is fun! and exciting! and more fun to do in the winter because of the hot water!
Because it will knit up quickly on big needles!
Because one can never have too many bags!
And, lastly and most importantly, because I have never used Noro before and I have some skeins waiting here to become a bag and I want to see how yours comes out first!

I agree....the Tychus hat is a must! Wouldn't it be cool to use a gradual variegated yarn for the darker color?
I find it energizing to have more than one project...go for it!
finishing your current projects is definitely NOT the way to go.
you need to knit something for your valentine so typhus in alpaca would be a wonderful choice. this would encourage your valentine to think of something equally wonderful for YOU!!! nothin' says LOVIN' like somethin' from the mutton! (hey, couldn't think of anything else that rhymes and is yarn related!)
