My First MeMe
| Thanks for the tag Whit! Here's a stab at my first meme:
What is your all-time favorite yarn to knit with? I'm still trying all the varieties. I like Cascade 220 because it has so many colors. When I had a spinning wheel (I was just a young maiden) I spun alpaca. That has to be my all-time favorite fiber to handle. Your favorite needles? I really enjoy using the Denise Interchangeables. Otherwise, I go for wooden needles. I have brand-new Lantern Moon shorties for dishcloths which are floating-my-boat at the the moment. I have 2 Addi Turbo circs waiting for socks, so that may change soon. Oh, and I love my wooden needles topped with Fimo Frogs. They make great decorations in my basket, but haven't had the need for size 4s yet. The worst thing you've ever knit? That's gotta be my first knit sweater. (I have some crocheted sweaters in my past.) First, I chose a way-too-jolly colorway . . . Then the yarn, same dyelot, shaded differently. (Smiley's discount yarn is not all that reliable.) . . . It doesn't fit quite right . . . and there's a hole where a stitch got away. I wear it at home for the sentimental connection. Your most favorite knit pattern? (maybe you don't like wearing it, but it was the most fun to knit.) So far my dishcloths have been the most fun. The variety, ya know. And the quick results.
Most valuable knitting technique? So far, tinking has saved me a lot of do-overs. Oh, and Deb, the sock-teacher-extraordinaire at my LYS, taught me the long-tail cast on. Very helpful. Best knit book or magazine? Well, I have to say it is Stitch N Bitch. I don't really like the patterns, but the instructions have saved my butt...er, knitting, many times. My most-est favorite book is the binder that I put all my freebie patterns into, with it's cute puppy-dog cover and Gromit backside and every pattern in a plastic saver sheet. It is a treasure trove of projects-to-be. Your favorite knitblogs? I love Blogville. The variety is amazing. Everyday I find a new favorite. I love the interactions with other knit-freaks. Your favorite knit-along? I'm Post-felt pics tomorrow! Socktoberfest was fun. My all-time (uh, that would be a few months time-wise) favorites are the Monthly Dishcloth Along and the Felted Bag KAL. Since they are ongoing, they are a tight-knit group. Har! I'm looking forward to the Mary Poppins Bag Along that Whit will be leading in January, but it's scary, too. Way beyond my Your favorite knitwear designer? I have to say I really enjoy the free designs done by "you and me". Ya know, just the regular knitter, doing her thing (unless its his thing cuz it's a guy) and sharing the results with the rest of the knitsters. The knit item you wear/use the most? (how about a picture of it?) Well . . . it's about time someone asked to see my First Socks! Once again, for your viewing pleasure -- I wear these when I go on motorcycle rides or on other special occasions.
Now . . . tag, you're It! . . . goes on to Mandy, Vanessa, and Gram Sue. Have Fun! |
