Dying to Knit This

One more look at those Fuzzy Feet before they make one little girl's feet happy. They look like elf shoes. And a glance back at their beginnings, when they fit dear husband's feet. He reluctantly modeled them, saying they were "too fancy" which meant they were in a very feminine color and would I please remove them from his feet, already.

This weekend was full of dye jobs. Saturday, I dyed my hair. I really like going to my hairdresser and letting her do her magic fingers massage, but that money went for yarn...and a new class.

Sunday I took a class in KoolAid dyeing. Deb, instructor extraordinaire at my LYS taught us all the essentials. She makes classes so much fun and hardly charges for them. I'm getting really spoiled. She even emailed more information to me later, with helpful links to internet sites. My dream life would include opening a yarn shop with her as the instructor -- and me just sitting around knitting, surrounded by yarn. I've got the sitting around knitting part down pretty well at this point.

Here's a picture of my sweet-smelling yarn. (I took my camera to class, forgot to use it and when I did finally pull it out, OOPS! forgot the card. No pics of class. Sheesh!)

I can't wait to knit the red and blue. The green one is done on a marled yarn. It's like a natural yarn variegated with dark bits. I bought two skeins to dye at home.

In the meantime, knitting continues ... and unknitting. I am frogging the spiral scarf and buying Mom some slippers for her birthday, or maybe some of those knitter's gloves that help with carpal tunnel.
The Mitred Bag is coming along. I am making some huge adjustments in order to make sure things fit together. Changing the pattern except for the front piece. I may put it on hold and make it for myself later.

I cast on for some gloves, frogged, then frogged again. I'm really torn between making gloves or Dad's Socks. It doesn't help that Dad's birthday is in February, so I could postpone the socks until then.

I'm also just aching to start making this Fortune Cat which is one big sock and then you get to felt it. It's a great pattern by by Jussi . I may have to start that one next.
I'll leave you with a picture of my cat, Pesto, playing with the mouse I knit and felted for her. She loves it. At least, I think that's love when she beats the heck out of it and then tucks into her armpit. :)

I'm headed out for a walk to Michael's with my 40% off coupon in my pocket. Now that's good incentive to exercise! Have a lovely knitty day.

I got my 40% off coupon from my mother too late to use it. It arrived in the mail yesterday! Are you going to midnight madness? I am going out of town for a job training so I won't be able to go. Hope to see you soon.

Mandy, KoolAid dyeing is really easy -- especially with the instructor doing most of the hard work! It seriously is easy, though.

Tosh, I am planning to go to Midnight Madness. Sorry I'll miss you there. We were able to get some art supplies for husband's daughter for Christmas with the coupon and saved $30. Yeah!
