Done it Again!

It was so satisfying to work along with other knitsters for the Soctoberfest and Fuzzy Feet knit alongs, I've joined another one. I have other projects that have priority, but seems like my attitude right now is Priorities Be Damned!

So. . . I have joined the Peaceful Palms glove knit along over at nonaKnits. Fellow knitters are making fingerless gloves, gauntlet-style mitts, and there's even a tutorial, lead by Nona herself in installments, that is teaching how to make gloves with I-cord fingers. I'd love to learn that, but I'm a little shy of learning the I-cord shuffle just yet.

So I cast on for Cigar Gloves from Knitty . I cast on 3 times: frog, frog, frog. Then last night it clicked! I cast on some Paton's marled wool that I bought to dip in KoolAid and I just knit and knit. And ...

That's one night's work! It blows my beginner-knitter mind! I used my KookAid dyed wool for the little stripes. My needles are a size too big and the yarn is a bit too thick, so I made a medium and it fits hubby perfectly. I know this because he had to try this trial mitt on many, many times while listening to me get over-the-top excited about this yarn monster.
There are little holes and not-so-nice parts, but this is the trial glove. I like the pattern, with three open-ended fingers for doing important stuff -- like smoking cigars. A very manly mitt!

I think this project has me more excited than even the First Socks.
In less exciting news -- I got the job I interviewed for on Monday. Fortunately, it is only a couple hours a day, so it won't cut into my knitting time too much. It will also give me more $$$ to buy yarn! :)

Have a lovely knitty day. Hoping for cold weather in Cali ... that requires gloves! Becky

Great job with your first test glove -- hey it looks good enough to be the real thing. I've found gloves to be very fun and addicting!
