Men Knit, Too

The other day I ran across Vogue Knitting's new men's magazine. The cover art is a rather provocative pose, which I found amusing. But it stirred my interest to see just what resources are available for male knitters. I was surprised to find the quantity and the quality that is out there. I found an interesting news article about boys and men who knit. There are also some interesting names for knitting groups for guys, like Men With Balls in Denver and Dicks with Sticks in San Francisco. There is a web site just for men who knit called menknit.net. Dan, the owner of the site, has his own blog. There is a history section on menknit.net that has some background about knitting and some great old graphics like this one from WWI.
Of course, being a mom, the Berenstein Bears picture with Papa Bear knitting is my favorite. I can think of a few people who could use one of those sock signs over the doorway.
There's also a web ring for men, but it seems to include women's sites, too. When you see these buttons, you might be in a spot where you can hop into the ring. My knitting progress: cast on for a felted bag last night. I'll post my progress tomorrow. :)

What an amazing article! I loved reading it. Honestly, I did. So honestly written. There is nothing to be ashamed of. I mean...I am a woman myself, but if you are a guy and you let the needles fly...In my opinion there is nothing to be ashamed of.
