We are still moving things from my parents’ place, but have progressed from the house to the garage. The end is in sight! It will still be a couple weeks before we can say it is done. Maybe a month. I am sore and tired like I’ve never been before in my life. A few times I’ve sat down to write this post and was so tired I fell asleep.
My knitting life is super simplified, consisting mainly of small portions of traveling scarves, where each person knits a small section then sends the scarf to the next person. It keeps me knitting so I don’t despair that I’ll never have time to knit again. Unfortunately, I forget every single time to take a picture of what I knit. Sigh. I also managed another small knitting project, that took much longer than usual. A hat, of course.
This is from the Noro Hat pattern and has ridges of knit rows and purl rows, like a beehive. I used Berroco Jasper in a color I really like, but it didn’t stripe like I thought it was supposed to. I still like the colors. It was turning out too big, but I decided I’d shrink it a bit in the washer. So I chose a nice, busy day and tossed it in the wash — and forgot it! Now, I know better than to leave something I’m felting for an entire cycle without checking it, but that’s what I did. It is now a child’s hat. I do like how it felted, though. It has a slight ridge and is very soft. I like this pattern and will make it again in the right size, without felting.
I also managed to spin more for the Tour de Fleece. Besides the yarn from my last post, I plied some pink and blue merino. It took forever to spin this because I grew to dislike the color. I don’t mind it now that it is done, but it is not my favorite yarn. I thought is was more even than it turned out to be, and I think it needs more of a twist in the ply. I may even send it through again before I use it.
I’ve also spun half of some pretty green and black blend Cotswold/Merino/Suri Alpaca that is really easy to spin.

It’s from Morro Fleece Works, which processes fiber and also sells on eBay. I did this bobbin in one day at out guild’s retreat. That’s a good amount of spinning for me, so I’m really pleased. Our county fair is coming up next week and I’ll be doing demos a few days, so I expect to finish this yarn then. I might even finish the scarf I’m weaving at the fair. It’s my only hope!
I have to boogie and work on that garage some more today. I’ll try not to stay gone from the blog so long next time. : )
